Functionality of the Cockpit & ADAS integration platform

The paradigm shift in the electrical/electronic architecture – away from a domain-specific E/E architecture and toward a vehicle-centralized, zone-oriented E/E architecture – is steadily advancing. The result is a range of very powerful cross-domain vehicle computers that consolidate previously separate domains such as infotainment and ADAS.

The consolidation of various domains can be implemented using different integration approaches. One integration step is the shared housing, in which separate compute units are housed in a joint mechanical frame.

Another valid integration possibility is using what are known as fusion SoCs. In this case, the separation of the domains is implemented at the software level, with hypervisors and container frameworks, for example.

The functions from both domains are implemented in one specially developed SoC.

This architecture is particularly well suited for use in the entry-level and midsized segments and enables driver assistance functions up to SAE Level 2 and Level 2 hands free.
